••• ELISA TOMELLINI, piano
August 24, 9 pm
For the first time in Croatia, the Italian pianist will perform the complete études by Liszt in their original, non-simplified version, marked with a complex manuscript of dense and almost utopian
fabric.
In the manuscript, the virtuoso Liszt tried to transpose any technical request he could come up with to the piano, as if he wanted to leave a testament of his acrobatic piano skills.
Elisa Tomellini is one the few pianists who have dared take on this gigantic undertaking, and the first and only woman in 180 years since the études were composed who performs the entire repertoire
in concerts.
Program:
Franz Liszt:
S.144: Il Lamento, La Leggierezza, Il Sospiro
S.145: Waldesrauschen, Gnomenreigen
Paganini’s themes, S.140 (first version from 1838):
Étude no 1, g moll (Preludio: Andante; Non troppo lento, cantabile), Étude no 2, Es dur (Andantino capricciosamente),
Étude no 3, gis moll “La campanella” (Allegro moderato),
Étude no 4, E dur (Andante quasi allegretto),
Étude no 5, E dur (Allegretto, dolcissimo) (La Chasse),
Étude no 6, a moll (Quasi presto, a capriccio)
